 " IRIS " ULTRASONIC tubing inspection


An
immersion pulse-echo technique is used. The ultrasonic transducer is housed in a turbine head with a rotating 45° mirror. The turbine assembly is centred in the tube axis. These pulses are emitted parallel to the tube axis and are reflected by the 45° mirror so that they are directed radially into the tube wall. The reflections from both inner and outer tube wall follow the same path to the transducer. The time interval between the first wall echo (front) and second wall echo (back) is the measure of wall thickness. As the mirror rotates, the ultrasonic beam sweeps the entire circumference of the tube wall.

MULTIFREQUECY EDDY CURRENT TUBING inspection

Heat exchanger tubing exam with eddy current is performed with an Eddy Current axial probeinternal bobbin. The principle is to study the impedance variation of the coils inside a non-ferromagnetic tube. The injection of multiple frequencies allows by using a mixing to eliminate unwanted signal from structure, and so to detect and evaluate the degradation under the support.

  REMOTE FIELD EDDY CURRENT TUBING INSPECTION

The Remote Field Testing [RFT] is using for ferromagnetic (carbon steel) tubing inspection. The specific probe use coils for the exciter and for the receiver far to 2xOD of the tube. The principle is based on the magnetic field variation study of the coils from the exciter to the receiver along the tube. The display in absolute and differential mode allows to find slow and pitting defect, like erosion and corrosion.
